The Lore of Pandemonium Empty
PostSubject: The Lore of Pandemonium   The Lore of Pandemonium EmptyFri Sep 18, 2020 5:29 pm

This serves as a guide. An introduction into this world, what it’s about and its purpose. To start, let us look at the community. Every other week you hear veterans complaining about how they miss the old days. This day and age is riddled with drama, and that drama has become associated with roleplay as a whole. I seek to put an end to this. All of the founders of this group did, and if you are here, I am sure you do too. In this group, we just... Write. Leave your drama at the door, save your frustrations for your writing and don’t cry over something that happens in a fucking fictional world. How long has it been since a place existed that encouraged creativity that wasn’t for combat, or tried to restrict the characters when it’s supposed to be for storytelling? A place, where you didn’t have to worry about drama every five minutes.

This is what Pandemonium seeks to be. A sanctuary within a world of chaos and anarchy.

Now, for characters. While we do not require a bio sheet, we recommend having one for your main character in this place. Furthermore, we also advise creating a character specifically for this world rather than using existing ones. A main will stick around for quite a while, and become a very core part of this world. Those characters with bios, the mains of this place that dedicate themselves to this ambitious endeavor, will be immortalized on the site for this group.

Stories matter, and will not be forgotten. This is what we offer you for choosing this group to interact with. Now, you are allowed to bring in other characters of yours for stories here and there, for plots or rumors, even as antagonists. But, Pandemonium is not their home, which is why we recommend a new character. A character that calls Pandemonium their home, and can change the world at their leisure.

Next, you need to understand something. What you rp matters here. If you destroy a city, we want to see what happens because of that. Start a drug smuggling operation, who goes after you, and how many lives are ruined as a result? What impact does that have on that line of the community you affected? If you invent tech, how does that affect the rest of the world?

The world is unclaimed. Wild, unruly. Chaotic. Literally, Pandemonium. The world is too large for anyone to occupy even a single digit percentage, and travel between towns takes decades. And that’s with hyper advanced futuristic automobiles and aircrafts. Teleportation is far too dangerous as is traveling through portals or warping due to the abundance of ‘dead-zones’ which will be explained a little later. Every ‘city’ has its own rules, its own corruption. Connections, and jobs. But one job connects them all;

Fiends.

Fiends are essentially the mercenaries of Pandemonium. They carry out jobs for money according to their own desires and morality. They have stations within each town, and special privileges within the world-- at the cost of being unable to settle. Whilst they can settle temporarily, they are deemed far too dangerous to stay in one place for too long. Of course, no one is forced to be one, but the option is available to you or one of your characters. Hell, you may create one for the sake of your story if you want then ditch them, but all characters will be remembered. The stories you tell here, matter.

If you have some epic story going on and it divulges into dialogue, you will start to be known for talk-no-jutsu.

This realm, is basically a sandbox where you can find everything. But, the world changes with your actions. Things do not just stay the same. Also, you have the option of having an admin help you DM fiends, wildlife and npc’s. That is to say, you can run them yourselves or have our admins serve as the writers of these extra pieces of your stories. Feel free to discuss what you desire to see happen, but you you do not need permission to freely interact with anything, with the exception of Named Creatures.

From time to time, someone may create npc’s or creatures, and give them a name. If you do so, do not create it and forget about it or it will lose its name. These named beasts will be run by the creator, be it a mafia gang, a dragon, a heard of some original creation of monsters, etc. These named creatures can be anything from a futuristic alien to a necromancer from the dark ages.

As you can probably tell already, Pandemonium is not set in the common plane. It is set in a higher plane, which isn’t exactly... A planet. The land itself is as endless as the sky above. While you can dig deep into the ‘earth’, there isn’t just one core. There are multiple, which give the innate ability for the denizens of Pandemonium to wield power. This means that even your average Joe in this world will at least have some semblance of powers, and will be able to try and fight back.

Unless... You come across one of the aforementioned dead-zones.

These are wounds in the world where powers no longer work, and physical strength is sapped. These are dangerous places to stay in for too long, but if two people want a realistic melee bout, you can go to a wound. Or, perhaps you just want a neutral place for discussing politics or peace treaties. Wounds are places without conflict, but they are created by incredible conflict itself. The conditions for creating a dead-zone aren’t clear, but destroying a core, sapping a core of its energy, or even incredibly evil practices over an extended period of time are all candidates for wounding the world.

As you can probably tell, nobody is harmless. Everything depends on personality and personal morality, no matter where you turn. Hence why everything is nearly impossible to conquer and thus chaos reigns supreme. It can be mitigated to an extent though. For example, you could have a religious sect take over a city, and actually make the lives of the residents somewhat pleasant. Some such groups can last for thousands of years, but with the extended lifespans of those within Pandemonium, such things are never permanent. A thousand years in this place, is a blink of an eye.
Remember. This place, has everything. You want a zombie apocalypse, you got it. Want somewhere medieval or futuristic? It’s around here somewhere, you just have to find it. Want to dip your toes into a genre of story you’ve never experienced before? Approach an admin to DM the world for you, until you have a good feel for it. And please, above all, enjoy your stay.
